4.11 Minnesota Fats - TE Richard Rodgers

In the real world: The Green Bay Packers drafted Rodgers in Round 3. The Packers' tight end situation is worth monitoring, given how Jermichael Finley produced for them when healthy. Rodgers is similar in size to Finley; undrafted free agent Colt Lyerla is a beast when his head is screwed on straight. Then there's Finley himself--he remains unsigned after neck surgery. Rodgers only played two seasons (2012 and 2013) and missed time due to shoulder and foot injuries.
In the TUFF world: The Fats found a new starting tight end last year in Jordan Reed; they took Rodgers in this round hoping they have found a backup. (Lance Kendricks is mired in a crappy job situation backing up Jared Cook on the Rams.)
You probably already know this, but...: Rodgers is the son of Richard Rodgers Sr., who also played at California. The elder Rodgers is best known as one of the four players who lateraled the ball during perhaps the most unforgettable play in the history of college football, simply known as The Play (Cal-Stanford, 1982).
