3.14 Carolina Convicts - TE Troy Niklas

In the real world: The Arizona Cardinals drafted Troy Niklas, by most accounts the draft's fourth-best tight end, in Round 2 of the NFL Draft. They have two other tight ends on the roster at the moment--Rob Housler and John Carlson--but Niklas may be their best one already. The question is, how much will Bruce Arians use him? Housler has only accounted for 1,004 yards and 1 TD in his three seasons in Arizona, but then again, he's not Niklas (Housler didn't have any receptions after Week 14 last season). Niklas is presently recovering from February hernia surgery.
In the TUFF world: Carolina needed to find a better backup for Jordan Cameron, and Niklas is a great fit here. You could reason that if Niklas is better than what the Cardinals had at tight end last year (Housler, Jake Ballard, Jim Dray), and given that Bruce Arians used that trio more in the second half last year (44 receptions, 518 yards and 5 TDs combined), then Niklas could be in a great job situation. If only he had landed in a clearer job situation (like Atlanta), he probably would have gone a lot earlier in this draft and other rookie-only drafts.
